Smart Water. Sustainable Operations. | A SMANEX Field Case

How can industrial connectivity help solve operational challenges and support sustainability?

We would like to share a recent chilled-water project at a major semiconductor packaging and testing company in Taiwan—an example of how SMANEX brings together engineering, technology, and specialist partners to deliver practical solutions.

The challenge: addressing fouling while maintaining production

The customer sought to address deposits and biological fouling in its chilled-water circulation system. The approach needed to accommodate existing water chemistry, maintenance practices, and strict production requirements.

Working with water-treatment specialists and the customer’s facility engineers, SMANEX helped develop and conduct a proof of concept (PoC) combining controlled, low-dose chlorine dioxide treatment with water-quality measurements and filter inspections.

The initial observations: a foundation for improvement

The team tracked pH, temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS), and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), alongside photographic records of filter debris.

Initial inspections indicated fewer flake-like particles captured by the filters following treatment. This encouraging observation supports further evaluation; long-term resource savings, microbial control, and equipment-life benefits remain to be quantified.

The integration roadmap: connecting field data with action

Building on this field experience, SMANEX’s proposed AIoT architecture combines:

  • SEC405G Edge Gateway: Collect and integrate data from water-quality instruments and field equipment.

  • SDRMS: Support centralized equipment management and remote maintenance.

  • DataPro AI Agent: Help interpret trends, identify anomalies, and recommend actions for facility teams to review.

The goal is to turn field measurements into actionable information while supporting water conservation, reduced consumable use, and longer equipment life.

This project illustrates SMANEX’s approach to solution delivery: understand the problem, integrate the right technologies and partners, validate in the field, and build a path toward continuous improvement.

If your facility—or your customers—faces challenges in water management, equipment maintenance, data integration, or remote monitoring, we would welcome an opportunity to discuss a suitable application.
